How to memorize your dreams?

I've gotten a new councelor and I've met with her once but she claims that she can interpret dreams. I don't doubt that she can, but she says that she wants me to try to remember the dreams that I have so that I can tell them to her and she can see what direction I need to head in I guess. Anyway, is there anything that a person can do to make them remember their dreams more or advice or something like that at all?

  1. write them down as soon as you wake up
  2. Try leaving a dream notebook beside your bed and if you wake up in the middle of the night write your dreams down before you forget or even just jot down some points and they will jog your memory in the morning.
  3. eat weird things before bed like pepperoni dont sleep too deeply
  4. i honestly don't believe in dream interpretation. but to remember dreams, i play by play the entire dream- all that i remember as soon as i wake up. if i even wait a few seconds or try to just recount certain moments, i forget what the dream was even about.
  5. ive heard if you get a glass of water drink half before bed and the other half when you wake up and you will remember your dreams
  6. i highly suggest keeping a dream journal just a little notebook where you sleep to write down what you can remember when you wake up :]
  7. put a dream notebook beside yah..
  8. There is evidence to suggest that if we jot down our dreams as soon as we awake (whether in the middle of the night) or to start our day, then there is a greater likelihood that we'll remember even more of the dream later on when we review our notes. As such, keep the notebook or dream journal by your bed ... jot things quickly -go for quantity and not fully-detailed quality. Use symbols, shorthand, whatever it takes to record in writing what you are remembering rom your dream. I'm saying that to reinforce that you need not be worried about grammar, sentence structure -even making the page look neat. the goal must be to get down on paper as much as you can recall -and then go back later and fill-in. Now, a bit of caution about "going back later and filling-in" (and this is something to discuss with your counselor) ... there is always evidence from studies that indicate the longer we wait to "go back and fill in the details" the more likely we'll be influenced by events that have taken place between when we first jotted down our dream and when we came back to fill in the details. As such, it's recommended to fill in those details as soon as possible. I'm happy to hear you have a counselor that realizes there is meaning in our dreams and is attempting to help you via multiple interventions. Good luck!
