- try buying a notebook or something and write them down when you get up. other than that i cant think of anyhting
- Start with keeping a dream journal. Keep a notebook by your bed, and write the dream down as soon as you wake up from it, also add the date and the time you write the dream down for future reference. You start to forget your dreams when you wake up for the same reason that you start to forget experiences in your day to day waking life. If you could remember every minute detail of every little thing that happened in your waking life or your dreaming life, you would go mad trying to cope with that much information, it is just too much for most people to deal with, for example, can you remember what color shirt you wore on April 5 2001? I know I can't, and that information isn't important to me, so I have chucked it to make room for more important information. We remember the things that are more important for us to remember, and let go of extra stuff that doesn't mean as much, otherwise it would be too much to cope with, and you would become over loaded. We forget most of the dreams we have during the night, my own theory on that is that the dreams we forget are about problems, issues, or information we dealt with while sleeping, and once dealt with, there is no further need to remember the dream. The dreams that we do remember on waking contain information that we are trying to tell ourselves though. Writing them down is important, because the memory gets foggy about what you dreamed about the night before, just as three weeks from now you're not likely to remember what you had for dinner that night either! Writing them down is a very useful habit to get into, because once you have a bunch of them together, you can start to learn about your personal symbolism, look for trends, and things like that, and then when you have that one dream you just can't forget, you will have had some practice in learning your own dream language, so you can see if you can figure out what it is trying to tell you. Good luck...
- a friend of mine decided that it was easier for her to use a small digital recorder instead of trying to write it down. So she keeps it next to her bed and can record immediately. If I get up too fast, it's almost assured that I won't remember a dream. If it seems like I've had one, I try to stay there a few minutes. Hope this helps. God bless.
