- Yes, it would be fine to leave it that long. You just need to work on training when you first get it. Are you getting a puppy or an adult dog? Goldens are usually very loving dogs, that's why you've heard they need to be with a person a lot. They don't need it, they just like it! They just love to be around people!!
- Behavior Hardy, vigorous, and active, the Golden Retriever has an excellent nose and works both in water and in thickets. He is a tenacious tracker, although less methodical than the Labrador. He excels at retrieving waterfowl and has a remarkable memory. Lacking aggressiveness, he rarely barks and is not a watchdog. Very gentle, intelligent, calm, and even-tempered, he makes a wonderful pet. He needs firm but gentle training. Advice He is not suited to apartment life because he needs lots of exercise. He hates being left alone. He requires brushing once or twice weekly, as well as combing during the shedding season. Function Hunting dog, utility dog: guide dog, wreckage search dog, drug detection dog, companion dog.
- Retrievers tend to be destructive if cooped up for too long. If your dog had plenty of toys and access to the outside, it could possibly work.
- Should be fine, if not trained might be better to crate it 'till he/she gets housebroken & used to your house
- it is ok .a dog needs a lot of love but you can go to school it will be ok.It can be good but try keeping it outside when you come from school because sometimes it could pee with excitement.
- when i got my dog (she was a puppy at the time) we chose to crate train her. this also helped alot to potty train her. but let me tell you this much, the first and second day you come home, you're gonna have quite the mess to clean up, lol. but its really worth it. :) hope i could help. and good luck with the puppy!
- i have a golden retriver..they are great dogs btw..yes its true that they love attetion but most of the time my dog is home alone while i am at school and my parents are at work..shes fine..at first she was whining but they get used of it..if you gradually add an hr. at a time it would be better..but dont worry your dog WILL be fine Ü
- If you are considering getting a puppy then the answer is definitely no. 3 hours max. If you are considering a rescue dog, then tell the rescue centre your hours and I'm sure that they will be able to give you some good advise. Hope this helps. jab177 http://dogtrainingtheeasyway.com
